TopDivorce Attorney – Complex Divorce

Divorce Attorney

Our firm helps all Florida residents in divorce crises, from relatively simple dissolution matters to the most complex divorce issues. We represent clients who own significant assets and have high net worth. In divorce cases, property division can be very challenging. Not every attorney can handle these complex matters. We understand high-value property division, and can assist you to resolve cases with assets worth millions of dollars.

Divorce – Complex

In a complex divorce, laws regarding taxation and finance are often critical. Dividing a family business can be difficult considering both spouses may have contributed to the business with labor and money. Some businesses are difficult to divide; others are all but impossible to divide. When spouses own one or more parcels of property, division can be difficult, especially if the property has declined in value. Often, complications arise when spouses are emotionally attached to the marital home. The division of brokerage, bank, retirement, investment, and other financial accounts can be very difficult, as it is often hard to assess value.

We work diligently to identify, evaluate and equitably divide all types of assets, including:

  • Artwork, vehicles, antiques and collectibles
  • Billable Accounts
  • Businesses
  • Intellectual Property
  • Investments
  • 401(k), pension and retirement plans
  • Stock options
  • Real estate
  • Other financial accounts

We work with forensic accountants and other experts to track down marital assets, including assets a spouse may be trying to conceal. We retain professional evaluators to assess value of a marital business. We work to unravel complex business relationships to reach an accurate value that can be used for property division in the divorce.

Divorce – Equitable Distribution

Florida is an equitable distribution jurisdiction, which means property is not necessarily divided 50/50, but is based upon each spouse’s particular needs and contributions during the marriage. Florida law now allows for partial equitable distribution of property, which allows state courts to assign property division of certain marital assets before the case is finalized. This should allow divorcing parties to access their assets at an earlier point in the legal proceedings.

Prospects for success often depend upon your divorce attorney’s skill and experience. Call Michael Todd Rebuck, P.A. today, and schedule an appointment.
